Breast screening

Breast screening and diagnosis address breast-health questions — a lump, an abnormal image, or a check that is due. This is a distinct pathway from cosmetic surgery and is never treated as an add-on to a cosmetic consultation.

Korea Breast Care coordinates a consultation with a registered breast-surgery or radiology institution. Tests are ordered and interpreted by clinicians.

What this covers

Scope of this field

Screening belongs to breast surgery and radiology. If a finding needs cancer care, the pathway continues to a tertiary hospital; if a cosmetic question exists separately, that is coordinated as its own plastic surgery consultation.

  • Breast ultrasound
  • Assessment of benign tumours (e.g. fibroadenoma)
  • Biopsy and mammotome (vacuum-assisted) procedures
  • Imaging around existing implants
  • Review of an abnormal screening result

Consultation materials

What we help you prepare

A useful consultation depends on complete information. We help you organise these; the institution orders and interprets any tests.

  • Any previous mammography, ultrasound or MRI — original files where possible
  • Prior biopsy or pathology results
  • A description of the symptom or finding and how long it has been present
  • Family history of breast or ovarian cancer
  • A current medication list

Common questions

Frequently asked

Can I be screened while I have implants?
Yes. Imaging can be performed around implants, sometimes with specific techniques. The radiologist or breast surgeon determines the appropriate approach.
What happens if something is found?
If a finding needs further care, we coordinate the next step — a biopsy, or a referral pathway to a tertiary hospital for cancer treatment. The clinician directs the medical plan.
