Revision & implant assessment
Revision surgery addresses problems after a previous augmentation or reconstruction — hardening (capsular contracture), suspected rupture, a change in position, or a wish to exchange or remove implants.
Assessment often depends on imaging and your previous records. Korea Breast Care coordinates the consultation and helps you gather what the institution needs; the clinician makes the diagnosis and decides whether revision is appropriate.
What this covers
Scope of this field
Revision sits between plastic surgery and breast surgery. Where rupture or a breast-health concern is suspected, imaging and a breast-surgery or radiology opinion may be needed alongside the plastic surgeon.
- Capsular contracture (firmness or distortion)
- Suspected implant rupture or leak
- Malposition or asymmetry after surgery
- Implant exchange
- Implant removal (with or without replacement)
Consultation materials
What we help you prepare
A useful consultation depends on complete information. We help you organise these; the institution orders and interprets any tests.
- Previous surgical records and operation notes
- Implant cards — brand, size and insertion plane — where available
- Ultrasound and, where relevant, MRI studies
- A description of what has changed and when
- A current medication list and relevant history
Common questions
Frequently asked
- Can you help if I don't know my implant brand?
- Yes. We coordinate the consultation and help you gather whatever records exist. The institution can use imaging to assess the implant when documentation is missing.
- Is implant removal without replacement possible?
- Removal, with or without replacement, is a recognised option that the surgeon discusses with you after assessment. The decision is medical and individual.
